Before you arrive
After receiving the Letter of Acceptance, you will have to arrange the necessary documentation. You will need to get some personal documents in your home country (or where you have lived for the past 5 years, depending on the document) to obtain your visa. Before traveling it is also necessary to take out for health insurance that covers the period of stay in Brazil. For more information, please check our International Student Guide by clicking here.
All the information on this page relating to VISA issues is the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Police. Before carrying out any procedure, check the websites of the official bodies and the Embassy of your country of origin to ensure nothing has changed.
The visa must be obtained before the student enters Brazil at any Brazilian consulate. All students must obtain a special type of visa called Temporary Visa IV to study in Brazil. The Brazilian consulate in your jurisdiction will require you to fill out a visa application form to obtain the Type IV student visa. Once you have applied for and received your student visa, be sure to bring the original and a copy of the approved visa application form, along with the documents required by the Federal Police.
You must register your visa with the Federal Police Department within 90 days of your arrival. Please note that this period starts from your date of arrival in Brazil, not from the date you start classes at UFABC.
