English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) is a teaching approach in which academic content is delivered in English, specially in countries where it is not the official language – such as Brazil. At UFABC, EMI represents an institutional commitment to the internationalization of higher education. Since 2015, the university has promoted the offering of courses in English at both undergraduate and graduate levels, creating a more global and inclusive academic environment. This initiative facilitates the attraction of international students, expands exchange opportunities, and prepares the university community for international collaborations and challenges. Supported by various institutional bodies, EMI strengthens UFABC’s position as an innovative and globally connected university.
