Foreigners who wish to conduct research, teaching, or outreach activities without formal employment relationship to UFABC, with a longer than 90-day stay in Brazil, must request a temporary visa type I and residence permit for research, teaching, or outreach from the Brazilian consular authority before arriving in Brazil. After arriving in Brazil
The researcher who enters Brazil with a temporary visa “type I” must register it with the Federal Police Department within 90 days of the arrival and obtain a National Migratory Registration Card (CRNM), following the steps below:

1. Fill out the application form available at the Federal Police website;
2. Organize the Necessary Documents:

| 2 | 1 (one) 3×4 photo, recent, color, white background, plain paper, front (in case of the Federal Police’s biometric data collection system is unavailable, presentation may be required); |
| 3 | Declaration of electronic contact (click here). |
| 4 | Original Visa Form; |
| 5 | Original Passport + Copy of personal page of your Passport; |
| 7 | Declaration, under penalty of law, of absence of criminal record in any country, in the last five years (click here); |
| 8 | Documentation proving your financial capacity or those responsible for maintaining the interested party in Brazil during the period intended to stay in the country, or proof of a scholarship, when applicable; |
| 9 | Documentation proving the acceptance in the intended research; |
| 11 | Proof of payment of fee and the original payment slip printed; |
| 12 | Proof of appointment to appear at the Federal Police. |
3. Pay the Fee (GRU): To generate the invoice, visit the Federal Police website. Select the code 140120 – fee amount R$ 204.77.
