ADMISSION PROCESS

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

The admission process for undergraduate programs at UFABC is exclusively thru the Unified Selection System (Sistema de Seleção Unificada – Sisu). To be admitted at UFABC you have to:

1 – Enroll to take the High School National Exam (Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio – ENEM https://enem.inep.gov.br/). This is an annual exam that can be only taken in Brazil and in Portuguese, so you must know the language to take it.

2 – In possession of the results fo ENEM, you have to enroll in the Unified Selection System (Sistema de Seleção Unificada – Sisu http://www.sisu.mec.gov.br/). In this system, you can chose up to two programs from a varied list from most of Brazilian public Universities, among them UFABC.

3 – There are only two entry programs at UFABC: the Bachelor in Science and Technology (BC&T) and the Bachelor in Sciences and Humanities (BC&H). They are called Interdisciplinary Bachelors (IBs) that allow students to keep their studies in follow-up programs that are: (BCT) Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental and Urban Engineering, Information Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation and Robotics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Teaching Degrees in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics; Bachelors in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Neuroscience, and Physics. For BCH entrance, the follow-up programs are: Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor in International Relations, Bachelor in Philosophy, Bachelor in Public Policy, Bachelor in Territorial Planning, and Teaching Degree in Philosophy. Check the full description of the programs. In step 3 you should chose to which program, period of the day and campus would you like to study. In Sisu system you will see that there are vacancies available for each of them. It is important to read the public call from UFABC in which there will be the rules to fill in the vacancies.

4 – Sisu will then use our ENEM grades to select the candidates for each University. If you are selected, you must come to UFABC when requested in order to enroll as a student and bring all the documents required in the call.

We would like to point out that UFABC is a federal public university, therefor it is totally subsidized by taxpayers money. That means that students do not pay any tuition and there is no fee for enrollment. We wish you all the luck in this process.

GRADUATE PROGRAMS

An academic Master’s program offers conditions to the development of studies that show the command of conceptual and methodological tools, essential to the field in research, which qualify the student as a researcher and professor, through education and investigative works. Master’s programs in Brazil are a level after undergraduate studies and are always focused on scientific research. A Professional Master’s program creates conditions to the development of business transforming practices by using the scientific method and applying the knowledge of new processes and techniques. Doctoral programs deepen the objective of the Master’s program by the production of a work that must be an original, creative and real contribution to the field of research. UFABC has three academic terms in a year, starting in February, May and September and graduate programs are free to choose whether they have one, two or three selections processes per year. All of them have one entry in February so that the application period falls between October and November of the previous year. Some Doctor’s programs accept applications all year round. The specific calendar for the selection process of a particular graduate program for a given year is available at the program’s website. In Brazil, public universities are tuition-free, even for foreigners. Therefore, students have no cost at all for pursuing graduate studies at UFABC. In addition, Brazilian public funding agencies – such as Capes, CNPq and FAPESP – grant scholarships for graduate studies to cover their living expenses. Top-ranked candidates in a selection process are usually granted scholarships. Please, take a look at the programs you like and get in touch with the coordination of the program for further assistance.
